My Romantic Husband

A few miles south of Iowa Falls on highway 65 is a roadside park.  Logsdon Park was also where our 5-6th grade class had their end of the year school picnic.  Remember those?   Our family had  just moved to town the first of May so I went along with the class to the picnic.  I had noticed this boy who would become my husband already.  He says he swept me off my feet.
Unknown to me until years later, he told me that he had carved our initials on the back side of the  picnic building under the overhang so that it would not weather.  Years ago, we visited here and decided to make a quick stop while we were in Iowa to see if we could still see them.  Sixty one years later after he placed them there, it looks like it was just carved in the sandstone.
Part of the attraction of Logsdon Park for us kids was the swinging bridge.  Unbelievably, it is still there with what looks like the same boards on it.  There was no way we were going to try and cross it, but it brought back more good memories.
So if you are ever in central Iowa, stop at Logsdon Park and see if you can find  our initials.  Vic's comment was, "I was so romantic, wasn't I?"  The key word is WAS.

A Summer Evening Drive

A couple nights ago our neighbor (Sandra) came knocking on our door and asked if we'd like to go out for a ride in "The Chevy"...
