We're Home!

Saturday Morning - the 2nd Day of Spring! Vic says we have to take the arrival of spring by faith.

Had a long trip home but made it safely to warm and sunny North Dakota. We left on a happy note.....check Rob and Carrie's blog. The link is on the right side of our blog.

Sunday Events

We went to church with Carrie this morning (Rob is off on a trip) Rob and Carrie have told us about the potlucks at their church so we experienced that today. We made Kelly H's Wild Rice Chicken Salad. We thought that was very "Minnesota". Most of them had no idea what it was. We tasted several Hawaiian dishes too. After the meal Carrie had to stay for their annual meeting and suggested Vic and Marilyn go to a nearby mall to wait. At the mall they had a ukulele school performing. It was so much fun to watch these little kids with their little ukuleles.

More Saturday

This afternoon Carrie took us to the east end of Waikiki Beach. I'm sure you could imagine there would be swimmers.

The famous Royal Hawaiian (pink hotel) is being renovated so will be closed for one year.

It is such a pretty view as you walk along the beach.

This is taken at the base of Diamond Head looking up. You can see the energetic people that made it to the top.

A Beautiful Saturday Morning

We got up early this morning and walked to the beach.

An Early Morning Hike

Makapu'u Lighthouse is one of Hawaii's most familiar landmarks commanding a spectacular view of the Windward side of O'ahu. The lighthouse was built in 1909 and automated in 1974. A 2-mile paved trail leads to the lighthouse and a fantastic view of the entire coastline and the island of Molokai in the distance.
This is the description of the hike we took out of the hiking guide. It is not the first time we did this hike. Today we were hoping to see some whales, but even though the reports from people coming down as we were going up, said there were lots of them, we did not see any. It was a beautiful place even though we didn't have a whale show. These are some of the views we had as we headed to the top.

FINALLY!!!

Just for the record......We have been here 10 days and today was the first day we went shopping. Nordstrom just opened in the Ala Moana Shopping Center downtown Honolulu. It was a lot of fun to see a new section of very nice stores.
Vic rode along downtown, but couldn't handle the stores so took off to the beach with his camera.

Seems like every time we are here there is a wedding at the beach.
I couldn't believe the size of this creature! Vic should have put him in his camera bag and brought him home for dinner.
