Playing with Fire (and water)

Yesterday Vic raked a pile of pine needles and Marilyn swept the neighbor's deck. We put them in Betty's fire ring and had quite a smokin' thing going on. We couldn't get over how many needles had fallen already. Then Vic decided he wanted to pull some weeds so he put on his waders and headed to the lake. I think he was having a lot of fun. Even the seagull was enjoying himself.

Congratulations

Rob and Carrie are celebrating their 3rd anniversary today. This also begins our countdown for Baby Boy Slanger's arrival. Carrie says he won't come early, but what does she know? There will be an announcement on this blog as soon as he arrives!!

Getting Ready for Winter

It's very hard to think about snow and cold temperatures when it is over 80 degrees. However, we know we have get ready. Sandra, our neighbor, always has everything looking neat and tidy.
Doug offered to take our kayak to a storage place for the winter. Vic and Doug are loading it on his pontoon for the ride back to E Grand Forks. It is so nice of him to save us the storage fee.
This morning Vic helped Doug take down the canopy.

A Beautiful Day in Minnesota

It was such a pretty day here today so we went to Itasca State Park to check the leaves. There were some beautiful maples and touches of others turning.

CHANGES

It appears Rob and Carrie will be leaving Hawaii much sooner than they were thinking. His new assignment will probably be in Little Rock, Arkansas. We are now trying to imagine our grandson with an Arky accent!

We are disappointed our trips to Hawaii will end with the one in October, but we are thankful they will be on the mainland.

Our time at TT is coming to a close. It sounds like we could have some beautiful weather this week and we'll enjoy every day, but our thoughts are on putting things into storage and mice-proofing the place.

Mixed messages

It was very chilly this morning, but it warmed up so nicely this afternoon. We were able to get out on the lake and had a great time. We saw the water lilies in bloom like we hadn't seen all summer. Had to get a couple pictures to remind us what we have to look forward to next summer.

Signs of fall...

The thermometer said 40 this morning and a family of Canada Geese visited our dock area. Usually they are not around our lake. Another visitor apparently visited overnight.M noticed that a deer had had a great overnight salad as he munched on impatients and a hosta which we had just commented upon as being so beautiful... no more. But we enjoyed them all summer.
They must be very brave as these plants are right next to our trailer.

Back Home in North Dakota/Minnesota

I had a great time with my mother and turned the reins over to a cousin who is a sweetheart. Mom has reported the two of them are having a great time together. Thanks, Millie!

Soon after I arrived back in GF we headed to TT. We had a great Labor Day weekend with some warm weather. Andersons and Nelsons came for Sunday. We ate breakfast at the West Forty and went to church together. We sat on the deck and had a great visit, an early dinner at a Mexican Restaurant in Dorset and then they headed home.

Vic saw a couple on the lake this morning enjoying it all to themselves. He got some great pictures that you only get if you are up early.
Today we drove back to Grand Forks to do some work around the house. We stopped at Bergeson Nursery so Vic could get a few pictures. We could tell the peak had already passed, but it was still beautiful. Thanks to the Bergeson Family for this wonderful free garden we all can enjoy.
