Baby! It's cold

This morning we woke up to 24 degrees below zero.....now we're not talking about windchill here - I won't even go there!!! Believe me, it is miserable. But, to make matters worse, Marilyn called Mom Marquardt in Tucson and the first thing she told her was it was cold and it probabaly would even get to 65 degrees today. THEN, Carrie called to say they were cold, they had to put a sweatshirt on. GIVE ME A BREAK!!! I told my mom I didn't even want to discuss it. She laughed.

You figure out which picture matches the temperatures mentioned above.

Tomorrow is the last day of January. Hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Learning something new!

Recently we decided we wanted to learn how to make Artisan Bread. We read about a book with a fool proof method so we decided it was time to
start this new adventure. The simple dough was put in the fridge on Tuesday and today was the day to bake our first loaf. Take a look......

REPORT: We are very happy with the results of this bread. Several have asked me how it tastes so I wanted to add a note that is very good and easy too.

A Frosty Day

Wrap Up with Pics

The last night I was in Tucson my nephew Corey brought his wife, Moryama and two boys for a quick visit. Believe me, they are charmers! They were dressed in their pj's so only stayed a short time. Ethan is 5 and Noah is 2. The weather was nice all but one day. I was able to take some walks and enjoy the sunshine. I took this picture from Heard's front step. They have a nice view of the mountains.

Sorry - no pics yet!

For some reason I can't use my own computer in Tucson. Therefore...no pics!

It has been really nice weather here and my mom and I have enjoyed doing some things together. Saturday was a beautiful day. We had brunch with Moryama at one of Mom's favorite places and then went to a beautiful new outdoor mall in the foothills. We mostly walked around outdoors only peeking in a few shops here and there. She really seemed to enjoy it and I LOVED IT!

I have slowed my pace way down to only do what she wants to do. There have been appointments almost every day so that made us get out, but we have played Rummikub, worked puzzles and talked! I have made very simple meals and have enjoyed having Trader Joes close by......(who will volunteer to open one in North Dakota?)

My sister and husband return on Tuesday evening. I know they are enjoying their time in St. George and today will even see their son (from England) for a short time who is making a stop over there. They certainly deserve a break and I am so happy I could be here to spend this time with mom. They have found a perfect home so Mom can have her own private quarters on one side. I know I can speak for all my seven siblings - we think they are doing a wonderful job.

I will return on Wednesday to North Dakota....can you believe I volunteered to do inventory at Macy's - I have to be there at 4:30 a.m. the next morning. What was I thinking?????

Running away from home......

Marilyn is going to warmer climates....Tucson to be exact. She will spend a week with her mother and give her sister a chance to go visit friends where they used to live. We'll see if she takes her camera - maybe she'll take a picture or two.

A Summer Evening Drive

A couple nights ago our neighbor (Sandra) came knocking on our door and asked if we'd like to go out for a ride in "The Chevy"...
