Friends

Lee & Marsha were on a mini vacation and spent two days in our area.

We ate Italian at Dorset and visited on the deck.
Vic and Lee found some shade on the neighbors deck. The plan was to take a nap, but they chatter the whole time instead.
We went in the kayak....this is M&M, but the men had their turn too.

We think the flowers are so pretty this year. I think mainly it's because we are here more and can keep them watered.Recently someone told me she had a visual picture of something she saw on our blog while she was sitting in the dentist chair (sorry Dr J). I thought this picture would be a good visual picture during the winter when I am looking out at the snow falling. It certainly is a wonderful summer flower to enjoy while they last.

Visitors from home

Yesterday we had visitors from home... Jim and Adelyne made the trip over to have lunch at Itasca State Park and a nice visit at our campground. It was so good to have them here and catch up a bit on what's been going on. They left about 4:30 for home and I wonder if they were able to pass up the A and W in Fosston for supper....

A Day at TerryTown

Some of you have asked what we do while we are at the lake. Here's one thing Vic does at least once a week - mows. We (mostly Vic) work - here he is trying to get some grass to grow in a stubborn spot on the lawn.We have continous fights with a screen door so Vic says "a little duck tape and WD 40 will fix anything. (We'll see)
We eat, but not always outside.

TUESDAY MORNING KAYAK RIDE

This morning was so beautiful so we decided we needed to try going into the lake that connects to the south of us. To get there you go through a channel and under a bridge that we often cross. It was fun to see the fish in the clear water and glide along the glassy lake. I was wishing we knew someone that lived on Potato Lake because we could have easily stopped in for breakfast.

Exploring the Lakes

This afternoon we decided it was time to investigate some new areas. Our lake is connected to two other lakes. There is a river that we headed down and soon ended up in Island Lake. It was really fun to see what that was like and we enjoyed seeing a new lake.

It was rather shallow in places, but we really didn't have any trouble.

Another day we will go to the lake south of us. It's a much bigger lake so we'll pack a lunch when we go on that trip.

We stopped at Itasca to see if any more Ladyslipper were in bloom - they certainly were!

OK OK - here's the story

Several have asked about the kayak story, so I am going to tell it exactly as it was told me. When we were telling Lou about the kayak I said, "there's no way you can tip it"...hmmm - WRONG! It seems that when I put Lou's seat in the kayak I didn't get it firmly placed in the right position. So, his seat was moving around while they were on the lake. Finally, they decided to try to fix it in shallow water (thankfully). As Vic was trying to get in the kayak he said, "Lean away from me as I get in" - well, Lou leaned TOWARD him instead and suddenly they were both in the water! I am so sorry we don't have some pictures. Marilyn

July 4th Weekend with Lou & Pat

Our weekend with Lou and Pat was one of the best! The weather was so nice and we truly enjoyed the outdoors and our time together. Here's one of the highlights - a trip around the lake in a pontoon. Our neighbors, Doug and Sandra invited all of us to this special treat.
We walked around Itasca State Park too. Here you see Lou and Pat at the headwaters of the Mississippi. We also took the hike to the Old Timer's Cabin along the bog - can't say that was one of Pat's highlights (she was sure there were snakes) but we did see the Pink Ladyslipper in bloom. Vic posted those pictures on his blog.

Vic and Lou had an adventure in the kayak. That story will be for another time.
Lou had a little snooze on the lawn chair, but for the most part there weren't a lot of naps....we were just too busy for that. Thanks Lou and Pat for coming - we enjoyed your visit very much.

WE'RE HOME!

What a wonderful time we had with family in Colorado. The weather was perfect! We are now looking forward to a few days with Lou and Pat at TT.
