Having fun with the Grands

Rob and Carrie arrived home safely Wednesday evening with much excitement.   The kids were pretty hyper before they arrived.   There were a few times Papa and I had to take a deep breath and figure out what to do with such energy.  We were very thankful they slept well at night and only once did Ellie cry because she missed her parents.  We called her Mommie and after she talked to her I asked Ellie if she felt better.  She said, "Yes.  I think".

They had fun one morning at the splash park on base.

They could play with play dough by the hours.
They liked this Halloween decoration in the neighborhood.
For some reason this was something Mack thought looked silly...he figured out pretty quickly however, it didn't feel real good.

10th Anniversary Trip

R&C have been talking of doing something special for their 10th Anniversary.  We heard NYC mentioned, Japan and a few other places, but once they knew of their move they had to settle on something not so far.    Maui wasn't such a bad choice and only a few minute plane ride away.

Rob talked to the kids right before they left.  He said, "There will be no fighting while Mom and I are gone".   He barely got the words out of his mouth when they wanted the same Lego.  Rob said, "Didn't you hear me say there would be no fussing".  Ellie's response was, "Well, you said while you are gone and you are still here".   Smart girl!!!

Tea in Kailua

Today we went to A Cup of Tea.    We had been there before but this time Mack was included at Ellie's request.
I enjoyed the Spode Christmas dishes.  This place was decorated ceiling to floor with Victorian Christmas - very nicely done.
Carrie is trying to decide what menu selection is best.   The salad and pumpkin soup were delicious with a nice selection of tea sandwiches, pecan and chocolate cake and ice cream.

Vic and Rob aren't in the picture.   They decided to drive the Pali Highway and Kailua Beach.  They found lunch at a different place.  Can't imagine why they would want to miss this.

Pretend Birthdays

The kids remembered last summer when we celebrated Papa's birthday early at the lake.  So when they heard we wouldn't be there in time for their birthdays they decided they would have Pretend Birthdays.   They opened their Lego gifts from us with a little cash to do whatever they wanted.
We started the day with the gifts and then went to Annie Miller's for brunch at their request.

We always enjoy going to the Kailua Farmer's Market.   So, after church on Sunday we headed there to pick up some produce and have their famous green smoothie.
There is a booth for kids crafts so M&E wait their turn.
They always enjoy making something with the pencils, markers and glitter glue available.
The flowers are so beautiful.

Don't Laugh

We were having such a time with fruit flies so we had to find something that would take care of the problem.   I read you should put a small amount of apple cider vinegar in a small glass and cover it with cling wrap.   Put a small hole in the top with a toothpick or knife.   They love it!   You can see them under the wrap and after they drink a bit they are floating!    You'll thank me if you should have fruit flies this fall.

A Summer Evening Drive

A couple nights ago our neighbor (Sandra) came knocking on our door and asked if we'd like to go out for a ride in "The Chevy"...
