Rob and Carrie gave Vic this church wren house for his birthday last year. It was too late in the summer to put it up, but now it ready for Mr & Mrs Wren to take possession. This blog is a diary of our travels and things going on in our lives. Even the Wrens go to church at TerryTown
Rob and Carrie gave Vic this church wren house for his birthday last year. It was too late in the summer to put it up, but now it ready for Mr & Mrs Wren to take possession.Recent Days
It certainly has not been warm around here, but Vic took his camera to capture some beautiful clouds. Minnesota had some bad storms over Memorial Weekend. These pictures were taken at that time. We have spent a few days at TerryTown, but certainly haven't enjoyed the weather. At least we are getting it cleaned and ready for summer hopefully still on it's way.

The Day Has Come.....
.....when we officially say goodbye to our dear family at FEFC. I should say it is goodbye in the sense that Vic will no longer be senior pastor. We are not going far away for the time being, but need to let the church move on to seeking someone new to be their Leader. To say it is an emotional day, is a huge understatement. Our summer will be spent at TerryTown (most of you know that is a nickname for our humble lake place - don't go look it up on the map - you won't find it) and doing some traveling. These trips include a BIG one when we will go welcome a new grandson, scheduled to arrive in October. We have absolutely no idea what we will do after we return from that Hawaii trip.

Farewell Open House
We wanted to show you some pictures of the beautiful desserts served on Saturday at an Open House for us. We could not believe all the people that came and stood in line a long time to give us a hug and say a few words. It meant so much to us and we can never adequately thank everyone. IT WAS A VERY SPECIAL DAY!

Signs of Springs
This week we were able to get to TerryTown to prepare for summer. Scott was a huge help and we appreciated his expertise on that process. On the way home he noticed this Great Horned owl's nest.
Thankfully Vic snapped a picture immediately, because as he walked closer he flew to a nearby tree.
But as you can see as he got closer to the nest he was able to see two baby owls.

May 1, 1956

It was 52 years ago today Kurt and Vi Marquardt moved their family of 6 children to Steamboat Rock, Iowa. It was May Day and a girl invited me to deliver May baskets with her. That was how Vic and I met since one of the baskets was delivered to his house. Ten years after we were married we stopped at a road side park near Steamboat Rock and Vic showed me where he had carved in the sandstone building - VL MM. I had no idea he had done that in May 1956 when the end-of-the-year school picnic was held at that park. Here's the picture I took when he showed me that carving. I only wish it would show up better so you could see he really did it.
This will make you smile!
