Here's the link to the downtown bridge cam - we can't tell if the water is up to the wall or not and believe me, for a fine of 1k, it's not worth checking it out!!!
This blog is a diary of our travels and things going on in our lives. Many of the entries are Vic's photography. We thank you for being interested in what's happening with us. Click on the picture to make larger. Also check out: www.vicluikenpics.blogspot.com.

Ritual of Spring in No. Dakota
Every spring we have some flooding on the Red River of the North. Some years are more than others for obvious reasons. This spring the predictions were "more than normal flooding" and for our friends south of us it means a lot more stress since they haven't a flood protection in place like we do in Grand Forks. The snow is gone and that means the rivers and fields are full of water....yesterday they said "The Red" is 20 miles wide as they looked down on Fargo/Moorhead area. That's a lot of water!!! Vic snapped some pictures of our walls -- I was very thankful as we walked along this area because I knew what was on the other side of this wall and knew it still had a few feet to go before it crests Thursday or Friday this week.
Here is how they close the gate that takes you to the greenway and bike trails along the river. Below shows a little more of the wall that keeps the water on the wet side and pretends it is the bank of the Red River. The last picture shows how close the water is to the bottom of the bridge. (This pic was taken several days ago) Only one bridge remains open now that connects GF/EGF.

Snow, Snow, go away....
not snow and ice.
But, she is rather charming, I think.
Note: Just thought I would add that today it was so nice. We lost tons of snow and actually spring might get here after all. They are talking about some big storm coming this way, but we are saying it will miss us!
