Timber

We had to have a favorite Amur Maple taken out last week.  It had been slowly dying and in spite of Vic's best efforts, more branches were dead than alive.  

In an hour it was down and gone.

Tom at the lake came to take a dead Jack Pine down behind our park model.   
Much taller and scary when the wind blew.

It came down quickly but landed in a neighboring Oak tree.  Now what?

Well, just keep cutting off the bottom and it will fall down...right?  Wrong. 

Get a chain and pull, that should do it... not quite.  

So, let's see.  We have this chain saw and there is this stubborn 
Oak blocking the lake view.

So we got a twofer.  Two trees down and a better lake view. The Oak, as it turned out, was hollow through the whole tree.  
A three hour job and we have a better view of the lake.

Can you imagine what these two woodpeckers were thinking looking at the stump?
