WHAT HAPPENED TO SUMMER?

If you happened by early on a summer morning, this is very
likely what you would see.

This plant gets bigger every summer. It starts blooming in July and goes until the frost comes. We can never remember what it is called but now that it has gotten some strength we have really enjoyed it. * A source out of New Mexico, PKL to be exact, thinks this flower may be a Maximillian sunflower. I think she could be right. In fact, PKL is the one that took some of these pictures.

We have enjoyed the Coleus so much this summer. We also learned the deer don't eat them. Our neighbor watched a doe and a fawn enjoying the Hosta and Impatients in our yard and thought they were so cute until they came to her yard and cleaned her out. This morning a deer came walking down the road right in front of our house. Guess they are getting ready for the resort to clear out so they can take over all the good things we might leave behind.
